Implementation of the Biosafety Protocol
There is still a multitude of open questions with regard to the environmental impact
assessment of deliberate releases and placing on the market of genetically modified organisms
(GMOs) in particular, genetically modified plants. The aim of this study was to compile the
current international status of research on the environmental impacts of genetically modified
plants. An assessment of actual research results with respect to their gaps and limits should be
carried out. Singular, especially important scientific publications or issues should be critically assessed and further research need defined.
